Wow. I need to pick up the slack on this blog. I guess I just aint used to this yet.
Anyway, while I've missed the MTB Challenge series races at Folsom Lake (too much rain), the CCCX races have been fun. Well, painful but fun.
The first race I did on the XtC hardtail and even though the CCCX courses are very forgiving, I longed for the FS ride. The bike itself performed flawlessly but I am going to turn around and sell it. Feels a bit small too. Came in 9th out of 16.
Before the second race, I picked up a 2007 Epic Expert (new). I had a chance to ride it for about 30 minutes during the week but really did not dial the bike in properly.

During the race, the seatpost kept slipping down slowly, causing multiple stops. Its nice to be able to sit and pedal over rough terrain with the FS bike. I placed 7th out of 9.
The Epic is a sweet bike. It'll be weeks until I figure out how to properly dial it in based on the terrain. The pic shows me on lap one with Pete right behind. I hope I wasn't holding him up ... he passed me at the start of lap #2.
I also picked up a new 2007 Reba Race fork. Still not sure how I will be using it but since I got it at 1/3 the retail price, I aint worried. Might put it on the Epic, or maybe the XtC. Epic has the Fox F100RL which isnt too shabby; XtC has what I am guessing is a very light Skareb. Hmmm.. Decisions.
Next up: CCCX #3 on March 1st.
